Elevating Impact: CMSA Recruits Board for National Growth

The Caribbean Medical Student Association (CMSA), New York Medical College’s pioneering Caribbean student organization, announces an ambitious expansion initiative, recruiting a distinguished board of directors to guide its transition to independent nonprofit status.

Founded by six visionary students, CMSA has demonstrated remarkable impact within its inaugural year: partnering with Westchester Sickle Cell Outreacg for competency training, executing reproductive health drives that delivered over 50 packages of menstrual products to FiWeChildren Jamaica, fostering coalitions through minority mixers with SNMA and LMSA, and sustaining operations through successful bake sales and patty fundraisers.

This strategic board expansion positions CMSA to scale its mission regionally and nationally. The governing body will provide expertise in nonprofit governance, fiscal management, 501(c)(3) compliance, philanthropic development, and Caribbean health policy, enabling programmatic growth across additional medical institutions and diaspora communities.

“NYMC incubated our vision; this board will architect our legacy,” stated CMSA leadership. Applications are now being accepted from qualified professionals committed to health equity. CMSA seeks partners ready to transform student initiative into institutional force.
